So why do people care so much about technical "accuracy" in some areas and not at all in others? Isn't the look of the world itself a useful reference? Why is inaccuracy in color rendering simply a given, while a little blurring of fine detail resolution or a touch of noise in the shadows are so adamantly not tolerated?

(Beim Drübergucken fiel mir Ch. 59 "The Idea of BSP Trees" auf und als ich gerade reinlas, kam mir alles merkwürdig bekannt vor. Das Buch basiert auf Dr. Dobbs Artikeln und genau diesen Artikel für dieses Kapitel muss ich schon einmal gelesen haben. Irgendwie hat's gleich Klick gemacht, schon bei Wendy Tucker, und die Bildchen kamen mir auch bekannt vor. Hmm. Als ich zu Schulzeiten durch nen Gewinn bei Jugend Forscht ein Praktikum beim Institut für Niedertemperatur-Plasmaphysik in Greifswald gemacht habe, habe ich viele Dr. Dobbs Artikel dort in der Bibo gelesen, wenn ich mich recht entsinne. Das könnte einer davon gewesen sein, so vor 13 oder 14 Jahren. Verrückt.)
